10U D1 Secures WRHL Championship

Every great season comes with a chance to win a championship, and our 10U D1 team did just that!

After a big 5 to 1 win to start off the WRHL tournament against the Jr Aggies, the boys looked to be the big "dog" to beat. But they were faced with some adversity early as they fell to the Ogden Mustangs 8 to 3. The team bounced back and got back on the path with a big 9 to 1 victory over the Park City Ice Miners. With this win, they were challenged with playing the Jr Aggies again for the play in game. Only this time, it wouldn't be any walk in the park. The Dawgs had their hands full as they battled back and forth with the Aggies who were set on an upset. But as the saying goes, "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog", the boys got the job done with a 5-4 OT win scored by JD Latva, and a ticket to the championship was punched.

The Dawgs faced off against the Mustangs who they have gone back and forth with all year in splitting games and series. It felt like it could be either team, but that outlook quickly changed as the Dawgs got rolling. They showed that "fight" inside themselves as they took it to them, racking up the scoreboard with goals and stellar defense. Ultimately, leading the Dawgs to a 4-1 win and a championship!
