Changes for the 2024-2025 Season
As many of you may know, there have been changes from the state as to how youth hockey will operate for the coming 2024-2025 season. The Oval House Rec program has consisted of having our teams play the other local organizations as part of the WRHL (Wasatch Rec House League). The state has clarified that "House Rec" programs will only operate out of a single venue, for practices and games. This means that our teams would only be able to play against other Dawgs teams. Due to this change, the Oval has decided to adapt and make changes for the best interest of our families and players.
We intend to operate the same way for the coming season, and participate in the UTHL(Utah Travel Hockey League).
All teams apart of the Oval will be classified as a travel team, and participate in the UTHL as an in-state league against the other local organizations.
Furthermore, we will have different levels of travel options in each group. These are the descriptions for each option.
Tier II, only offered for 14U, 16U and 18U. These teams will compete for state and the opportunity to play at the USA Hockey National Championships.
Travel Elite/Travel A, previously known as travel, is our highest level. They will compete in the UTHL, and roughly 6 tournaments during the season. And likely will travel out of state 3 to 4 times. They will have multiple practices a week, including off ice training and conditioning.
Travel Prospects/Travel A, previously known as D1, is for those who have a passion to play hockey and still are developing to compete at a higher level. They will compete in the UTHL, as well as participate in 3 to 4 tournaments. They will travel out of state 1 time.
Development Travel/Travel B, previously known as D2, is for those who have a foundation in the sport and are seeking to development. They will compete in the UTHL.
